Broadland Residents - Recycle your WEEE for free

Just think about the number of mobile phones, computers, televisions and other gadgets that we buy and you can get an idea of the scale of consumption. In the past year 173 million electrical items were sold in the UK and 1 million tonnes disposed of with much to landfill. It is one of the fastest growing waste streams in the UK. Most items contain valuable metals and other potentially hazardous materials which are valuable for recycling but can be harmful if released into the environment.

To help residents recycle their WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Broadland District Council is holding local collection events around the district.  The Broadland team will be out and about as follows: -

You can bring most electrical and battery powered items including computers, televisions, children's toys, music systems, vacuum cleaners, small kitchen appliances, hairdryers, game consoles, telephones.  They can even still be working, if you have upgraded and no longer want the item, bring it along and some items can be reused but all is recycled.

Unfortuantely we are unable to accept  fridges, freezers, fluorescent tubes, commercial or industrial items and large items that cannot easily be lifted.

Everything collected on the day will be recycled via Norfolk County Facilities.  We are unable to guarantee that any items you bring will be reused, if your preferred option is for reuse, please visit Freegle or try other reuse options.

If you are unable to attend one of the events all household electrical items can be taken to Norfolk County Council's Recycling Centres free of charge
